Not for the snooty crowd! Love the owner for his no nonsense humor. I eat lunch there almost weekly. The pulled pork is likely just made in a crock pot, but I don't care it's delicious! The potato salad is just awesome! Reasonably priced, definitely a dive, but good for a quick lunch (to go, unless you like small spaces and cigarette smoke)

This is a Yelpers paradise. Good food, great atmosphere, and not a tourist trap - to be sure :) Intriqued by the reviews and the limited open hours, we decided to head out and try Jim Jay's - and are we ever glad we did! Not far from Harris, the place is reminiscent of a food truck/lot, but it's a free standing building with outdoor patio tables and chairs. The food was very good. I had the brisket sandwich with a side of the potato salad and grilled shrimp. The bbq sauce was delish, the grilled shrimp was good (and cheap - 4 shrimp for $3.95) and the potato salad was GREAT. Big chunks of potato and eggs - very evident it was homemade and delicious. My friend enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich and even tried the extra hot bbq sauce - be careful - a little goes a looooong way! He had a side of beans which were reportedly not noteworthy. Prices were more than fair. The atmosphere and service is what would keep me coming back. A friendly and attentive staff, and the owner is a character to be sure. Just the kind of place I would be anxious to introduce others to. Enjoy!

Loved Jimmy Jayspulled pork barbeque sandwich. Also loved the relaxed atmosphere and Jim himself likes to sit down and have conversation with you. Great place for lunch.

A layed-back Parrothead style joint. With hearty portions at good value. Jim himself will greet you at the door most days. For under ten dollars you can pig out on the combo platter of 1/2 Rack of Baby Back ribs, pulled pork, two sides (all really delish) two slices of Texas Toast and a large drink with refills. One of the new additions is the New York melt. I will just say wow! Ruben loves Rachel ! Top it off with great table service by an always charming waitress, and this becomes our favorite lunch spot.

This is my favorite BBQ place anywhere. Only open for lunch. Get the ribs and the Cuban pulled pork sandwich. I saw a person who ate the Cuban pulled pork sandwich SMILE - someone I have known for years who NEVER smiles and is NEVER happy. Cuban sandwich or anti-depressants? You choose. They will cater - it takes extra effort (receipts? what are those? and you have to pick it up yourself), but completely worth it when your team goes weepy happy (see Sally Fields "You like me, you really like me!") over the fabulous BBQ.

The food is great but unfortunately the owner and his employees smoke cigarettes in front of the open door entrance as smoke blows into the little restaurant as you have to squeeze by smoke blowing in your face while they take their lunch smoke. A disgusting combination that kills the culinary experience.
